The University of Ioannina participates in the celebration of the International Museum Day 2024 by organizing informative and educational activities at the University's Museums.
This year's theme 'Museums for Education and Research' highlights the crucial role of cultural institutions in shaping a comprehensive educational experience. By focusing on a more mindful, sustainable, and inclusive approach, we aim to create a better world for all.
This year's celebration of International Museum Day promotes the concept of a sustainable, empathetic, and inclusive world and focuses on Goal 4 (Quality education with equitable access and lifelong learning opportunities for all) and Goal 9 (Sustainable development with resilient infrastructure and encouraging innovation) of the United Nations World Development Goals. The University of Ioannina prioritizes the educational value of its Museums, fostering a strong connection with the local community. To achieve this, the University schedules informative visits, guided tours, and educational programmes tailored specifically for secondary school students in the Region of Epirus, aiming at promoting a deeper understanding and appreciation of the region's cultural heritage.
